Project title: Contextual and Incremental Layout System for Biochemical Networks.
Project description: In this project, we propose to develop a network layout system that addresses two major issues facing the layout of biochemical networks: (1) the lack of use of localization in the cell and (2) pre-existing information regarding how networks should be laid out. First, the layout system will use context to determine how best to layout a network. Where possible it will use existing layouts (one or more) to influence its finally generated layout - attempting to keep its layout as close to the inputs as possible.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.

Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report (minimum 10 pages) graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator or the coordinator's delegate (50%).
