Mini-Science 2009

The third edition of Mini-Science was held in Spring 2009 (Wednesday evenings, April 1 – May 13, 2009).

To infinity and beyond: Space, stars & the universe

Be educated by some of the university’s top experts and an astronaut!

Learn about:

  • The birth of the universe and galaxies
  • Space exploration
  • The dark and light universe

Celebrating 400 years of astronomy

The United Nations has proclaimed 2009 the International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009) in commemoration of the first astronomical use of the telescope in 1609. This started a scientific revolution which radically altered our view of the world. To this date telescopes on earth, and now in space, continue to explore the universe.

In the third annual Mini-Science, each Wednesday evening from April 1 – May 13, 2009 top scientific minds gave lectures that enlightened, entertained and demystified cutting-edge research on Space, Stars, and the Universe. This unique public lecture series brought people together with experts in the field of science and related disciplines at McGill to learn the latest in space exploration.
