DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, November 16th to learn about how TSI astrono
mer Dr. Robert Main uses plasma in our galaxy as a telescope!\n\nOver 55 y
ears ago\, two radio telescopes across Canada were combined to achieve the
resolution of a telescope 3000 km across\, a technique coined as Very Lon
g Baseline Interferometry (VLBI). Interstellar plasma lenses bend radio li
ght\, and if mapped out using VLBI\, can be used themselves as cosmic tele
scopes billions of kilometers across to study astronomical sources with in
credible precision. In this talk\, Robert will describe the historical and
present developments which make this technique reality\, as well as recen
 t breakthroughs.\n\nDate: Thursday\, November 16th 2023\n	Time: 7pm (doors
open 6:50 pm)\n	Location: McConnell Engineering Building room 204\n\nCan't
join us in person? Join us live on YouTube: https://youtube.com/live/-gLEZ
