eRAP (Electronic Research Administration Portal) is McGill's research administration system for human research ethics protocols, grant management, and the Research Funding Checklist. Built on InfoEd Global's platform, eRAP consolidates submissions, reviews, approvals, and tracking into one place — covering the full lifecycle of funded research at McGill.
Visit infoed.is.mcgill.ca and sign in with your McGill email address and password — your original McGill email, not an alias.
Faculty members: Your eRAP profile is typically generated automatically. If you cannot log in, verify your profile with us before submitting a registration request.
Cannot access eRAP? Submit a registration request if you are unable to log in, require access to an additional module, or need your registration information updated.
Connecting remotely: Use the McGill VPN when working from home, travelling, or on public Wi-Fi. Recommended browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Pop-ups must be enabled for infoed.is.mcgill.ca.
Modules available in eRAP
eRAP provides access to two modules across two administration areas, both managed by the VPRI Research Systems and Planning team.
| Ethics | Funding |
|---|---|
| Human Subjects (REB) Submit new studies, amendments, continuing reviews, termination reports, and Reportable New Information (RNI) to the Research Ethics Board. Open to faculty members, staff, and students. |
Research Funding Checklist (RFC) Complete the online Research Funding Checklist (formerly OSR Checklist) required for all externally funded grants and project agreements. Open to faculty members and staff only. |
Who can use eRAP
| User type | REB module | Research Funding Checklist (RFC) |
|---|---|---|
| Faculty member | Profile auto-generated — If not, submit a request | Profile auto-generated — If not, submit a request |
| Graduate students & postdocs | Submit a request | Not available |
| Staff | Granted at PI's request — submit a request | Granted at PI's request — submit a request |
McGill-affiliated researchers (e.g., RI-MUHC, Lady Davis Institute/JGH): contact erapsupport [at] mcgill.ca directly before submitting a registration request.
Student PIs submitting to the FMHS REB: The supervisor must be listed as Principal Investigator and must create and submit the application. The student PI cannot submit directly to the FMHS REB.
New researchers without a McGill email: For the RFC, your faculty research administrator can complete the checklist on your behalf. Contact your faculty research office at least 10 working days before the sponsor deadline.
When to use eRAP
Research Ethics Board (REB)
Use eRAP for all of the following REB submissions:
- New study applications
- Amendments
- Continuing reviews (renewals)
- Termination reports
- Reportable New Information (RNI) — e.g., unanticipated issues, protocol deviations
Choosing amendment type: If the initial application was submitted in Word (pre-eRAP), select Amendment – Legacy. If it was submitted in eRAP, select Amendment.
Exceptions: McGill co-investigators on a study already approved at another institution — contact the REB before submitting. External (non-McGill) researchers — contact the REB directly; do not apply through eRAP.
Research Funding Checklist (RFC)
An RFC must be completed for all externally funded grants and project agreements — including applications where McGill researchers are co-applicants, where no funds will be disbursed to McGill, and applications not explicitly requiring an institutional signature. For full scope, see the Signing Authority and RFC FAQ.
As of March 31, 2025, the PDF version of the Checklist has been discontinued. The RFC must be completed online directly in eRAP. Reference guides are available within eRAP or below.
Supporting forms for the RFC
| Form | When required | Download |
|---|---|---|
| Table of Commitments | When the project includes university cash or in-kind contributions. Complete and attach to the RFC where prompted. | XLSX |
| Faculty Salary Request Form | When requesting salary support for any McGill academic in a research project budget. Must be approved by the appropriate signing authorities and attached to the RFC. | |
| Temporary Release of Funds | Allows OSR to authorize temporary release of funds before ethics approval, or when an application/amendment is forthcoming. | PDF (fillable) |
Before you submit
- Review the User guides section below for your role and module.
- Confirm team roles and edit access — only the PI and authorized editors can access and submit.
- Ensure pop-up windows are enabled for infoed.is.mcgill.ca in your browser.
- Save supporting documents as PDF before uploading. Do not password-protect files.
- For the RFC: the system autosaves as you work but will time out after one hour of inactivity.
- Contact OSR at least 10 working days before your sponsor deadline to allow time for internal review and institutional signature.
User guides
McGill login required to access all guides. Guides are also available directly within eRAP.

Frequently asked questions
Access and login
I have never accessed eRAP before. How do I get access?
Faculty members, graduate students, and postdocs are typically pre-loaded. If you cannot log in, confirm you are using your original McGill email (not an alias) and the McGill VPN if working remotely. If the problem persists, submit a registration request or contact erapsupport [at] mcgill.ca. Staff accounts are added on request by the PI.
I can't log in, but I normally have access.
You cannot access eRAP from outside Canada or the US without the McGill VPN. Use Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. If the problem persists, contact erapsupport [at] mcgill.ca.
I am from a McGill-affiliated institution. How do I request access?
Researchers from affiliated institutions such as RI-MUHC or the Lady Davis Institute/JGH should contact erapsupport [at] mcgill.ca directly before submitting a registration request.
Which browsers are recommended, and how do I enable pop-ups?
Use Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Pop-ups must be enabled for infoed.is.mcgill.ca.
Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Block Pop-up windows — add an exception for infoed.is.mcgill.ca.
Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Pop-ups — add infoed.is.mcgill.ca as an allowed site.
Research Ethics Board (REB)
Which amendment type should I select?
If your initial application was submitted in Word (before eRAP), select Amendment – Legacy. If it was created in eRAP, select Amendment.
I can't find my protocol.
You can only access a record if you are the PI or have been granted edit access. Use Quick Find (study title, record number, or PI last name) or Locate Records from the top menu bar.
Where are my pre-eRAP documents?
For studies initiated before eRAP, you may see an empty "Initial Submission" shell — this is expected. Go to Master Record → Attachments to find the original application and uploaded documents.
Why can't I create a new amendment?
You cannot create a new amendment while another amendment is already submitted and awaiting an REB decision.
How can I share a record with a colleague who doesn't have access?
Download from Master Record → Attachments and share securely. To add an editor, the PI must submit an amendment through eRAP (for student PIs, only the student and their supervisor may have edit access).
Research Funding Checklist (RFC)
Who needs to complete an RFC?
An RFC is required for all externally funded grants and project agreements — including co-applicant roles and applications not explicitly requiring an institutional signature. MTAs/DTAs and CDAs/NDAs are exempt. See the Signing Authority and RFC FAQ for full scope.
My student or postdoc is applying for funding. Do I need to complete the RFC?
Yes. McGill requires an academic supervisor or University administrator to act as fund holder. You must sign the RFC on their behalf.
How do I find an RFC I've already started?
Click Locate My Records in the top menu bar, or go to Projects and Checklists → Show a listing of All my records. You can also enter the RFC record number in Quick Find.
How do I know if my RFC was submitted successfully?
Clicking "Complete" or "Done" does not submit the RFC. Submission is confirmed when the Record Status shows Checklist — en route.
My RFC was returned for revisions. What do I do?
Open the RFC via the link in your email. Click Record Number → Proposal Development → Edit. Make your changes, mark the section Complete, and re-finalize using the same steps as your initial submission.
Can I delegate my RFC reviewer permissions?
Yes, in special circumstances (e.g., planned absence). Contact info.osr [at] mcgill.ca to request a delegation.
I am a department chair approving an RFC I am participating in. What is the process?
As department chair, approve as usual — it will proceed to the Associate Dean. As Associate Dean, Research, contact info.osr [at] mcgill.ca to re-route to your dean. As Dean, download a PDF once approved by the department chair and forward to the Provost.
How do I withdraw or delete an RFC created in error?
Email info.osr [at] mcgill.ca with the RFC record number to request withdrawal or deletion.
