  First Nations Principles of OCAP®” on Thursday\, November 25\, 10:00 a.m.
  EST\, presented by Ms. Melissa Dane\, Research Officer from the First Nat
 ions Information Governance Centre (FNIGC).\n\nThe First Nations principle
 s of OCAP® offer a framework for how First Nations’ data and information s
 hould be collected\, protected\, used\, and shared. Standing for ownership
 \, control\, access\, and possession\, OCAP® is a tool to support strong i
 nformation governance on the path to First Nations data sovereignty. Using
  historical and current research and data management issues\, this present
 ation will explore the First Nations principles of OCAP® and First Nations
  data sovereignty and discuss the importance of each.\n\n>> Please registe

 e (she/her/kwe) is Anishinaabe and currently resides in Treaty 9 (Northwes
 tern Ontario).  She is a Research Officer with the First Nations Informati
 on Governance Centre (FNIGC) where she investigates issues of First Nation
 s data sovereignty\, specifically in relation to research data management.
  She has a graduate degree in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies and 
 a passion for decolonizing research practice. \n
