DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the FRQSC Research Support for New Academics is 
 to enable the completion of an individual research project\; help support 
 a new generation of researchers and university instructors by assisting ne
 w academics embarking upon their careers in establishing themselves as ind
 ependent researchers and becoming competitive at the national and internat
 ional levels\; foster collaborations between new and established researche
 rs\; consolidate the research system by supporting up-and-coming research 
 academics\; incite new research academics who are beginning their careers 
 to develop original research avenues.\n\nEmerging researchers in social sc
 iences and humanities\, arts and literature who are planning to apply to t
 he upcoming FRQSC Research Support for New Academics 2018 competition are 
 encouraged to attend this information session\, which will include:\n\nBri
 ef presentation about the objectives and application requirements of the F
 RQSC Research Support for New Academics Program by  Maureen Donato and Joa
 nna Mastalerek\, Grants Officers\, Social Sciences and Humanities\;\n \n\n
 Presentation from Prof. Lisa Overholtzer (Department of Anthropology) who 
 will provide potential applicants with insights and strategies for prepari
 ng a successful proposal\;\n \n\nA question and answer period where partic
 ipants will be encouraged to raise any questions they may have about the p
 rogram or the application process. \n		Those who are unable to attend or who
  may not feel comfortable sharing their questions are invited to send thei
 r inquiries to maureen.donato [at] mcgill.ca (Maureen Donato) (ext. 2141) 
 or Joanna Mastalerek (ext. 7300) in advance so that they may be included i
