 rch is pleased to invite McGill researchers and administrators to an infor
 mation session on the upcoming SSHRC Partnership Development Grants compet
 ition.\nTuesday\, September 9\, 2014\n12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Burnside 426
 \n \nThe workshop will include:\n \n\na brief presentation about the requi
 rements and the evaluation process of the Partnership Development Grants a
 s well as recent competition results by Grants Officer Joanna Mastalerek\;
 \n \n\npresentations by two McGill researchers with experience as committe
 e members and/or grant awardees in the Partnership Development Grants comp
 etition. They will provide potential applicants with insider information a
 bout the peer-review system and strategies for preparing a successful prop
 osal:\nØ  Professor Sarah Turner (Department of Geography) and \nØ  Profes
 sor Rick Stapenhurst (Institute for the Study of International Development
  (ISID))\n\ntips for securing partner support\na question and answer perio
 d where participants will be encouraged to briefly introduce their project
  and pose any questions that they may have about this funding opportunity.
   For participants who might not be able to attend the workshop\, please s
 end your questions in advance to joanna.mastalerek [at] mcgill.ca (Joanna 
 Mastalerek). \n \nThe internal guide prepared by the Office of Sponsored R
 esearch will be distributed at the workshop.\n \nRefreshments will be serv

  \nBackground:\nPartnership Development Grants provide support\, up to $20
 0\,000 over one to three years\, for new or existing partnerships to:- dev
 elop research and related activities in the social sciences and humanities
 \, including knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of stud
 ents and new scholars\; or - design and test new partnership approaches fo
 r research and/or related activities that may result in best practices or 
 models that either can be adapted by others or have the potential to be sc
 aled up to a regional\, national or international level.  Competition Date
