DESCRIPTION:*REMINDER*\nInvitation: Information Session\nSecuring industry
support in a time when granting programs increasingly require it\n\nDate:
 June 13\, 2013\n\nTime: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.\n\nLocation: Leacock Buildi
ng\, Room 26\n\nJoin us on June 13th for an information session addressing
the topic of securing industry support in a time when granting programs i
ncreasingly require it.\nThinking of applying to a granting program that r
equires industry or not-for-profit support? Think your grant application w
ould be strengthened with an industry partner? As a greater number of gran
ting programs require support from industrial partners and not-for-profit
entities (NFPs) researchers may find themselves struggling to secure a sup
porting organization and qualify their applications in time for many of th
e granting competitions. Securing a letter of support\, in-kind contributi
ons\, and/or funding from industry or NFPs is not a trivial task. It requi
 res strategy\, networking\, time\, and luck.\nThis information session wil
l feature presentations from 3 individuals in McGill's Office of the VP Re
search. They are people who are on the front lines with global industries
and NFPs every single day. Dr. Nathan Currier is the Associate Director of
Research Contracts and Agreements\, Dr. Michèle Beaulieu is the Associate
Director of Commercialization\, and Mr. Jean-François Nadeau is the Senio
r Director of Corporate Relations. All will share their tips\, strategies\
, and resources on getting an industry or NFP partner on board for your gr
ant applications. Don't wait until the last minute. RSVP to nathan.currier
  [at] mcgill.ca now!\nTentative Schedule:\nNathan Currier – Introduction t
o session (5 minutes)\nNathan Currier – Tips and strategies to secure indu
stry support\, and contractual needs once support is committed (15 minutes
).\nJean-François Nadeau – How to build and cultivate your relationship wi
th industry (15 minutes).\nMichèle Beaulieu – How industry is different fr
om academia (academic research) and why that’s ok (15 minutes).\nQuestion
 Period (15 minutes)
