Month of March Closing Delayed (Banner Upgrade)

Good Day,

Please note that due to the Banner Upgrade, the month of March will not be closing according to the usual month end schedule. March 2016 is scheduled to be closed on April 11th. An email notification will be sent when financial statements are ready to be picked up in Minerva.

During the Banner Upgrade, starting at noon on April 1st and ending at noon on April 5th, Banner and Minerva will be unavailable. More information is available in the IT Knowledge Base.

Michael W. Davidson, a Success in Microscopes and Neckwear, Dies at 65

"Mr. Davidson, who died on Dec. 24 at 65, used sophisticated microscopes to create stunning, psychedelic images of crystallized substances like DNA and hormones, and he contributed to Nobel Prize-honored research about the inner workings of cells. His images were on the covers of scientific journals and, as unlikely as it might seem, on neckwear" states the NY Times.

Reimbursement of Expenses Policy Update - Advances: P2.1 & G3.1

Dear Colleagues,

The Reimbursement of Expenses Policy has been updated to clarify who is eligible to request and receive Travel Advances. Sections P2.1 and G3.1 have been revised to include the text in bold below:

P2.1. Travel Advances may be obtained for third party prepayments, out-of-pocket expenses that are required to be paid in advance of the trip, and for expenses to be incurred during the trip

On the cover: Biomaterial breakthrough

Research led by Dr Hossein Heris of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dr Jamal Daoud of the Department of Biomedical Engineering is featured on the cover of the journal Advanced Healthcare Materials. Their article describes the successful adhesion of human fibroblast cells to a scaffold biomaterial composed of hyaluronic acid and gelatin composite microgels.

Spaces are still available for  course FIS 351 Crystal Reports for Finance Users Level I. If interested, register for this course through the Employee menu in Minerva (IT Customer Service (ICS) Training Menu > Banner/Minerva > select FIS 351). Based on registration numbers, we may reduce the number of sessions offered between February and April.
