Group visits to the Museum

Advance reservations must be made for all group visits regardless of size. To submit a request for a group visit, please complete our online reservation form.


Interactive Learning Tour (ILT)

** NEW For High school Groups ( Secondary I and Secondary II ONLY)

Guided tour with an interactive activity. Available every Thursday from February 2019 to April 2019 / from Monday to Friday starting May 2019.

Audience:

Option 1: Animal Biodiversity: Secondary I

In the activity on Animal Biodiversity, students learn about Quebec's biodiversity and how to identify the different adaptations of local animals. 

Option 2: Rocks and Minerals: Secondary II

In the activity on Minerals, students learn about the properties of minerals and how to use these different properties to identify them. 

Duration: Two (2) hours total. This includes a guided tour in the museum gallery and hands-on activity in the teaching lab (90 minutes). The group can then explore the museum galleries and exhibits, including Creatures form the Deep, the Abe Levine Shell Collections, Mineralogy collections, Dinosaurs and other Prehistoric Beasts, Quebec's Biodiversity, Human Evolution and World Cultures Collections (30 minutes).

Cost:$15 (includes taxes)/student or minimum $150.00 (includes taxes) for a group of fewer than 10 participants.

Accompanying adults (1 for 15 students) FREE. Additional Accompanying adults: $15 (includes taxes).

When: Every Thursday starting February 2019 and from Monday to Friday starting May 2019.

Guided tours for groups

Guided tours aim to foster curiosity and passion for life sciences and to increase visitors' understanding of world cultures and our shared heritage. All the Guided tours are designed to meet MELS (Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport) Curriculum competencies and expectations.

ContentAfter a general introduction to the Museum, the guide will help you explore two THEMES of your choice: Dinosaurs and FossilsRocks and MineralsAnimal Biodiversity, Ancient Egypt and Mummies, and/or Hominid Evolution. Please choose your preferred THEMES when completing the online reservation form.

Duration: one (1) hour. All guided tour reservations include a second hour for personal exploration.

Audience: available for all ages, from preschool to college level students and adults.

Cost: $10 (includes taxes)/student or minimum $130 for a group of less than 13 participants.

Accompanying adults (1 for 15 students) FREE. Additional Accompanying adults: $10 (includes taxes).

ROLE OF ACCOMPANYING ADULTS: Divide the group into smaller sub-groups according to the number of people specified on your reservation. For examples, under 25 people require one guide. 25- 50 people require two guides. The number of guides required corresponds to the number of accompanying adults. Follow the group at all times to maintain discipline and manage particular cases. The guide will lead the group visit. 


Self-guided visits for groups

Content: Explore natural history and world cultures exhibits with your students. Check out our Exhibits page for more details of what you will find inside the Museum. For suggestions on how to structure your visit, including free scavenger hunts, follow the link to the Teachers' Resources.

Duration: Each group is given a two (2) hour time slot.

Audience: Groups of all ages are welcome at the Museum. Especially with younger students, please keep our visitor guidelines in mind when determining the number of accompanying adults. 

Cost: $6 (includes all taxes)/student. FREE for accompanying adults. (1 for 15 students)

Maximum group size: 50 people.
