The mission of the Rossy Cancer Network (RCN) is to improve the quality of cancer care for patients served directly by the McGill Academic Health Network. Its vision is to establish the RCN as a world-class comprehensive cancer network, with quality of care and outcomes in cancer survival, mortality, and patient satisfaction as good as or better than leading international comprehensive cancer centres and leading jurisdictional networks.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Clinical Manager, the Medical and Scientific Advisor will create, lead, and participate in the delivery of transformational projects in healthcare. The incumbent will draw upon an ability to critically analyze data, understand the hospital environment, and sustain peer-to-peer relationships with clinicians to achieve objectives.
The Medical and Scientific Advisor will:
Develop the RCN’s strategic priority to provide patients with access to leading edge treatments.
- Improve, oversee, and sustain the RCN clinical trials website by obtaining the most up-to-date trial information from partnered hospitals
- Lead initiatives to foster inter-institutional collaboration and improved processes between clinical site managers at the three RCN partner hospitals
Provide scientific and clinical expertise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with multi-disciplinary stakeholders (surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, nurses and allied health professionals across diverse tumour types and McGill-affiliated hospitals) to advance RCN objectives
- Critically review data, prepare or review presentations or manuscripts, and communicate findings to diverse audiences
- Assist and advise project managers in the development of project proposals
- Take a leading role in annual public reporting of clinical quality indicators (formatting data, literature searches and medical writing)
Assume ownership of projects and ensure successful execution throughout the project life cycle.
- Develop robust project management plans to aid in the execution of quality improvement projects following the standards set out by the RCN Project Management Office (PMO) by setting realistic and attainable project milestones, deliverables, and outcome indicators
- Standards set out by the PMO include activities related to scope, schedule, human resources, communications, risk management, and budgeting.
REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced degree (PhD) in life sciences or health related field. Master of Science (MSc), Nursing also eligible to apply. Experience in project management in a complex environment, preferably healthcare is an asset.
- A minimum of three years of work experience in a hospital environment in oncology
- Knowledge of oncology clinical trials and the clinical research landscape
- Some knowledge of information systems, especially those found in a healthcare setting such as a hospital

WORKING CONDITIONS
Status: Full-time contract with annual renewal
