McGill condemns violence against Muslims

Jan. 30, 2017

The attack at a mosque in Quebec City Sunday evening resulting in the killing of six people and the wounding of many others is a shocking, tragic event. McGill University, a community that celebrates diversity in all its forms, stands in solidarity with members of the Muslim community. We deplore this violence and offer our sincere condolences to all victims and their loved ones. The McGill flag will be lowered to half-staff in memory of the lives lost.

Any student who requires support in the face of this incident is encouraged to reach out to following campus resources: the Office of the Dean of Students, Counselling and Mental Health Service, the  Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and International Student Services. Faculty and staff are encouraged to seek support through McGill’s Employee Assistance Program.
