Update on the Principal’s RVH Task Force

March 16, 2016

Dear members of the McGill community:

As you may recall, the Principal’s Task Force on the Academic Vision and Mission of the RVH Site sought in December 2015 expressions of interest (EOI) from McGill groups who are interested in moving to the former Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) site.

I am happy to report that the Principal’s Task Force received approximately 40 expressions of interest from groups interested in relocating to the RVH site. It is clear that space to facilitate increased collaboration is a top priority across departments and groups.

Among the submissions received some overarching academic themes have emerged. As a next step, the Task Force will soon bring together representatives of groups whose EOIs incorporate these themes. Groups that are not contacted in the next few weeks should know that their EOIs are still under consideration; there are many proposals that, although outside these cross-cutting themes, would contribute to our goal of a rich and vibrant RVH “neighbourhood.”

It is very encouraging to see many innovative ideas for the next chapters of this remarkable Montreal landmark. We will keep you informed as to our progress.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Fortier
