Professor Bignami is an Associate Professor in the Department of Demography at l'Université de Montréal. Her research interests are mainly in the areas of demographic indicators of population health, aboriginal demography, demography in developing countries, HIV/AIDS, family dynamics, social and economic determinants of health, and longitudinal survey data collection and analysis. She is also currently the director of the Research Group on Aboriginal Demography/Groupe d'Étude sur la Démographie Autochtone and the co-investigator of the Niakhar Social Networks and Health Project.
