From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Two Members of the Yan P. Lin Centre newly inducted as Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada

Congratulations to Lin Centre (RGCS and RGGJ) members Arash Abizadeh and Daniel Weinstock, newly inducted as Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada!

Arash Abizadeh is R.B. Angus Professor of Political Science and Associate Member of the Department of Philosophy at McGill University. He received his BA(Hon) from the University of Winnipeg, MPhil from Oxford as a Rhodes scholar, and PhD from Harvard. His research focuses on democratic theory; identity, nationalism, and cosmopolitanism; immigration and border control; social and political power; and 17th and 18th century philosophy, especially Hobbes and Rousseau.

Elected to the Academy of Social Sciences.

Daniel Weinstock holds the Katharine A. Pearson Chair in Civil Society and Public Policy at McGill University, where he holds appointments in the Faculty of Law, the Department of Philosophy, the Max Bell School of Public Policy, and the School of Population and Global Health. He has published widely in a broad range of topics in moral, political, and legal philosophy. In 2023, he was inducted into the Order of Canada.
