Research Participants Needed: Linguistic Liberation or Linguistic Discrimination?

Dr. Angelica Galante is conducting a study to investigate the extent to which people feel liberated or discriminated against when using their languages.

If you are:

  • 18 years old or older
  • Speak two or more languages, including Indigenous, heritage, and/or official
  • Currently live in Canada (any status including refugees and non-status)
  • Can understand questions and provide answers in English

What will be asked of you:

  1. Complete an online survey (less than 20 minutes)
  2. Participate in a 60-minute interview

 

What you will receive:

  1. A certificate of participation in the study
  2. Reflections of linguistic freedom and discrimination

 

Participation in the study is completely voluntary and confidential. This study has been approved by McGill REB Ethics (protocol no.: 22-03-022) and received funds from McGill’s Social Sciences and Humanities Development grant (SSHD #87651).
