Raissa started doctoral training in 2016 in McGill’s Ingram School of Nursing, supervised by Franco Carnevale and Mary Ellen Macdonald. Her dissertation, Advancing ethical care for children with medical complexity in Brazil: A global health qualitative study, is exploring the moral experiences of families and children in the context of medical complexity in Brazil, and how these moral experiences are shaped by the relational, social, historical, and political context. She anticipates finishing this degree in December 2020.

Raissa was the David McCutcheon Doctoral Scholar until September 2019. Currently she is funded through a Doctoral Training Scholarship from the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQ-S). She also has a McGill Global Health Scholars Award ($3,000), and the Gail Carson Award Global Health Travel Award from the Ingram School of Nursing, McGill University ($2,500)
