Catherine Gros is Assistant Professor at McGill and Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Douglas University Mental Health Institute. She is also a consultant with the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of Mistissini, Quebec, perinatal and early childhood program.
A McGill faculty member since 1985, Catherine teaches core theory and clinical courses across graduate and undergraduate programs and is research supervisor for Master’s projects in mental health nursing.
Her fascination with the practice and science of nursing began in the Direct Entry Master’s program, where she studied under the direction of Drs. F. Moyra Allen and Laurie Gottlieb. Since that time, her work as a clinician, educator, researcher and consultant has focused on the practice and development of collaborative, family-centered health care, with a specific focus on the McGill Model of Nursing. In addition to her previous work as a staff nurse at the Montreal Children's Hospital (pediatric medicine and oncology) and at the Boston Children's Hospital (child and adolescent psychiatry), Catherine’s diverse clinical background includes nursing clients and families across age groups, from various medical specialty areas, and within hospital and community settings.
Her main area of research interest involves the application to practice of collaborative, strengths-based care with a focus on Mental Health Nursing.
