Published: 30 May 2011

The race is on to find the greatest McGill University graduate of all time. The “Greatest McGillian” contest comes as the world renown English-language institution celebrates its 190th year.

Judges narrowed down 700 nominations to 20 McGill grads. They include poet and singer Leonard Cohen, trailblazing neuroscientist Brenda Milner and actor William Shatner. Also on the list of nominees is Olympic moguls champion Jennifer Heil, the inventor of basketball, James Naismith, and Wilfred Laurier, Canada’s first francophone prime minister.
