CBC - QS World University Rankings

Published: 8 September 2010

McGill University has slipped a notch in the latest international rankings of universities, but that's still good enough to claim to be the top-rated school in Canada.

The QS World University Rankings for 2010, made public Tuesday night, put McGill 19th among 500 post-secondary institutions around the globe.  The University of Toronto ranked 29th, the University of British Columbia 44th, the University of Alberta placed 78th.

McGill which placed 18th last year, is the only Canadian university to crack the top 25, a list traditionally dominated by schools in Britain and the United States. Cambridge in the U.K. and Harvard and Yale in the U.S. were the top three overall.
