It is with sadness that the Faculty of Law announces the death of Professor William Tetley, C.M., Q.C., LL.L., who passed away, surrounded by his family, on July 1, 2014.
A world-renowned expert in maritime law, Professor Tetley led an extremely full life.
A teacher, first and foremost, Roderick A. Macdonald will be remembered as one of the most important scholars and thinkers in McGill University’s history. He was a mentor and inspiration to generations of students and law professors, and a transformative force at the Faculty of Law, the University, in Canadian society, and in the broader world.

Liliane Stewart, a noted Montreal philanthropist who, with her late husband David and the Macdonald-Stewart Foundation they led, contributed tens of millions of dollars to various arts, cultural and educational institutions in Montreal, including McGill, died Saturday at age 85.
