Registration closes shortly for the January 2015 semester of the Advanced Biofuels Course. Participants of past semesters include BioFuelNet HQP, graduate and undergraduate students outside of BioFuelNet, as well as industry and government representatives from Canada and overseas. Anyone is eligible to register. This online course is an overview of biofuels feedstocks, conversion technologies, combustion/emissions, as well as sustainability and aspects of commercialization.
With holidays fast approaching, cybercriminals are taking advantage of people’s vacation planning, online shopping and expected package deliveries. Millions of phishing scam emails are being sent out daily, spoofing trusted brands, retailers, postal services, banks, stores and more. Many of these emails look legitimate, and it gets harder to tell what’s a real email, and what’s a scam.

McGill University joins countless others in expressing sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Montreal Canadiens hockey legend Jean Béliveau, who died Tuesday, Dec. 2, at age 83.
On Nov. 10, 2006, the University conferred an honorary doctor of laws degree upon Mr. Béliveau in recognition of his superb skills as a professional athlete, as a leader both on and off the ice, and as a tireless philanthropist following his retirement as a player in 1971.
The Fall final exam period starts on Monday, Dec. 8, and runs for a 10-day period ending on Friday, Dec. 19. As usual, exams will be held in a morning, afternoon or evening session and the final schedule with room locations can be found on the Exams website.
McGill’s Board of Governors unanimously approved an Advisory Committee’s recommendation to appoint Professor Christopher Manfredi as the University’s next Provost and Vice-Principal Academic. Principal Suzanne Fortier, who chaired the seven-month international search, made the announcement during the open session of tonight’s Board meeting. The Advisory Committee comprised representatives of the Students’ Society of McGill University, the Post-Graduate Student’s Society, Senate and the Board.
