McGill will be hosting three home playoff games on the same night for the first time in school history, tonight with a basketball doubleheader sandwiched around a hockey game.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a game-high 14 points as McGill overwhelmed UQAM 68-42 in Quebec university men’s basketball action before a Parent’s Day crowd of 342 at Love Competition Hall, Saturday.
The Redmen moved back into sole possession of first place atop the RSEQ conference standings with a 6-2 record, two points ahead of Concordia (5-3) and Bishop’s (5-3).

The Martlets track and field team set the tone for a very successful weekend for McGill varsity teams by finishing first at the Sherbrooke Invitational meet on Saturday. Freshman Caroline Tanguay of St. Hubert, Que., won a pair of gold medals and senior Sarah McCuaig of Waterloo, Ont., claimed gold and silver. The team racked up 101 points, edging out the second-place Vert & Or by the slimmest of margins at 0.5 points.
Tanguay won the high jump with a leap of 1.65 metres and finished atop the podium in the pole vault with a distance of 3.35m.
The Gazette's Michelle Lalonde: "The only thing I resent more than paying over $100 for a decent pair of running shoes, is chucking them in the garbage after a year or so of training in them. Sure, the treads may be a little worn, but they would still be perfectly good for hiking around in. They don't belong at the dump."
