Welcome to our new Healing Garden
The fabulous new Healing Garden in The Neuro’s North Wing welcomes patients, staff, students and visitors seeking a tranquil space.
This airy zone of sunlight and greenery was carefully designed to be a calm environment for pause, rest and reflection. The elements of nature---shrubs, trees, flowers and water---were chosen for their restorative power. Varying shades, textures and fragrances contribute to reducing stress and anxiety. Natural, artificial and night-time lighting are integrated to create a soothing visual effect.
In view of its use by our hospital patients, the Healing Garden has clearance for wheelchairs. It’s expected that the Healing Garden will also be used as a place where a patient’s loved ones can await the outcome of a surgery or receive news of a diagnosis. On occasion, discreet social events in connection with a Neuro event will be held there as well.
Like a library or a religious temple, the Healing Garden must impose restrictions if it is to maintain its purpose. We therefore respectfully request that there be no food or drink, no laptops, and no loud conversation.
Access to the Healing Garden from inside The Neuro is through the nearby Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre foyer, and from the hallway on the 2nd floor of the North Wing, where a staircase leads down to the Healing Garden.
The Healing Garden is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
By respecting the tranquility of the Healing Garden, we can all benefit from its restful power.
