C-BIG Repository

Clinical Biospecimen Imaging and Genetic Repository (C-BIG)

Accelerating translational research on neurological disorders

“It's essential that we aggregate biospecimen materials and high-quality multi-modal patient data to advance our understanding of neurological diseases. With the C-BIG Repository, we are making it easier to do clinical and translational research, accelerating our goal of improving patient care." - Jason Karamchandani

About the C-BIG Repository

The Neuro's C-BIG Repository is a collection of biospecimen samples, clinical information, imaging and genetic data from people with neurological disease as well as healthy control subjects.

This robust collection drives researchers to develop key insights into the biology underlying neurological disorders, and facilitates the development of new and better treatments for patients and their families.

The C-BIG Repository facilitates research into molecular biology underlying patient disease and the discovery of biomarkers to improve the diagnosis of patients, and drives tissue-based translational research that will accelerate drug development.

The data and samples are available to researchers around the world, in line with The Neuro's Open Science principles.

The Repository is supported by a unique ethical framework that empowers people to voluntarily take part in research aimed at advancing understanding of their own neurological diseases. It also recognizes the primacy of safeguarding the dignity and privacy of all participants, and respecting their rights and responsibilities through the informed consent process.

Governance

The C-BIG Repository is governed by a board composed of members from the broader scientific community including external and internal experts in ethics, neuroscience and Open Science.
