Quantitative Super-Resolution Microscopy Course

May 7-9, 2019
Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre
The Neuro
3801 University

The Quantitative Super-Resolution Microscopy Course is targeted at researchers who have experience in advanced optical microscopy and would like to push their expertise into the realm of quantitative imaging in super-resolution microscopy. The goal will be to help researchers develop the practical skills and best practices in this field.

The participants will work on the three most common super-resolution microscopy techniques (single molecule localization microscopy, structured illumination microscopy, and stimulated emission-depletion microscopy) as well as enhanced-resolution confocal microscopy techniques. Good practices and quantitative approaches will be emphasized throughout the super-resolution imaging experiment workflow, including experimental design, image acquisition and analysis.

The course will allow researchers to apply these fairly new techniques in the life sciences with competence and confidence.

The three day course begins on May 7, 2019; the course fee which includes training and meals is $1000.

Speaker bio

Joerg Bewersdorf is a Professor of Cell Biology and of Biomedical Engineering at Yale University. He received his Master's degree (Dipl. Phys., 1998) and his doctoral degree in physics (Dr. rer. nat., 2002) training with Dr. Stefan W. Hell at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Goettingen, Germany. After 4 years at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, he relocated his research group to Yale University in 2009. An optical physicist/biophysicist by training, Dr. Bewersdorf has been a long-time contributor to the field of super-resolution light microscopy development and the application of these techniques to cell biological questions.
