The IT unit Network and Communications Services (NCS) has been renamed to better reflect the various areas of expertise and services they provide. As such, the unit is now called IT Infrastructure and Information Security (IIS).
Minerva, Banner, uApply (the Graduate Admissions System), myProgress (degree progress tracking) and myThesis (Thesis Examination Management ) will be unavailable from Saturday, January 22 at 10 pm to Sunday, January 23 at 12 pm (noon), during scheduled monthly maintenance. See all scheduled monthly downtimes for these systems.
All ICS-managed Windows laptops will receive an important IT Security update starting on Monday, January 17, 2022. IT Services will deploy Cisco Umbrella to ICS-managed Windows laptop computers to further promote the safety and security of our computing environment and devices.

In line with our strategic goal to be a first-class learning organization, McGill has engaged with Gartner, an industry-leading research and advisory service, to deepen and expand our insight into IT industry best practices and trends. We are pleased to announce that all members of the McGill community (administrative staff, academic staff, researchers, students) now have access to this Gartner resource.
The myMcGill portal is now located at mcgill.ca/mymcgill. Its new format features a publicly accessible home page and customized content for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Simply click on your affiliation at the top of the portal homepage to access your resources.

As of December 8, 2021 all McGill student, staff, and faculty accounts are protected with two-factor authentication (2FA)! You now have the power to block a cyberattack and protect your personal data, as well as institutional data.
We reached the University’s goal of securing all remaining staff, student and faculty accounts by the end of the year. We couldn’t have done it without your collaboration and the support of each faculty and department.

Faculty and staff members: If you are still using Skype for Business "On premise" for text messaging and video/audio calls, please switch to Microsoft Teams, the recommended application for internal McGill communications. As of October 15, 2021, faculty and staff members (except those who were given a Skype/Lync phone) will no longer be able to sign into the Skype for Business app.
