NEW: Music Applied Performance Sciences; B.Mus. (Minor)

Program Description

The B.Mus.; Minor; Applied Performance Sciences is an introduction to key topics in performance science and how they are applied to music practice, performance, creation, and education. The program offers opportunities to explore new intersections between music and applied sciences by examining topics related to optimal performance, healthy playing, as well as physical, psychological, and social determinants in music development, learning, and performance, and applied research approaches. This program focuses on developing scientific awareness and applying scientific knowledge to music learning, performing, and teaching practices.

Admission Requirements

  • Open to all B.Mus. students.
  • Completion of minimum two semesters at McGill
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.5
  • Must have prior knowledge in prerequisites for the courses in this minor


Interested students must submit an applied performance science minor application between February 1 and March 1.

The application result is communicated by mid-March.

Successful applicants will have the minor added to their records as of early June after they have successfully registered for at least one course in the following fall semester.
