 r Clarinet Intensive at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University 
 is a four day immersive program for dedicated clarinetists seeking lasting
  artistic growth\, hosted in the heart of Montréal’s vibrant musical commu
 nity.\n\nDesigned for advanced high school\, undergraduate\, and graduate 
 students ages 17 to 29\, the program focuses on long term artistic develop
 ment. Students build a clear and practical methodology that strengthens fu
 ndamentals\, sharpens musical thinking\, and supports consistent progress 
 across repertoire\, auditions\, and professional demands.\n\nEvery partici
 pant works extensively with both Todd Cope (McGill University) and Yehuda 
 Gilad (USC Thornton) through daily masterclasses that include guided indiv
 idual instruction. Students receive focused personal feedback while also l
 earning from the shared experience of the group. The masterclass format al
 lows participants to grow not only from their own time on stage\, but also
  from observing others\, encouraging deeper listening\, creative problem s
 olving\, and a more confident and independent approach to music making.\n

  fee (approximately $1 CAD = $0.75 USD)\n\n		Application deadline is April 1
 \, 2026.\n\n		Applicants must complete the online application form\, and sub
 mit both a current résumé and a video recording. Videos must be uploaded t
 o YouTube as unlisted\, and the link must be included with the application
 .\n\n		Please note that the program fee is due only upon acceptance.\n\n		The 
 required recorded video repertoire is:\n\n		\n			Mozart\, Clarinet Concerto\, f
 irst movement exposition\n				AND\n			Stravinsky\, Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet
 \, second movement\n		\n\n		Piano accompaniment is encouraged\, but not requir
 ed.\n\n		Apply now!\n	\n\n	\n		Selection and Notification\n\n		Applicants are revi
 ewed and selected based on their submitted video recording. Enrollment is 
 limited to 10 to 15 participants to ensure a highly focused and personaliz
 ed experience. Applicants are strongly encouraged to use a high-quality mi
 crophone and video recorder. Phone recordings are not recommended.\n\n		All 
 applicants\, including those accepted\, waitlisted\, or not accepted\, wil
 l be notified by April 15\, 2026.\n\n		Accepted participants must confirm th
 eir spot by submitting payment. If payment is not received by May 8\, 2026
 \, the place will be offered to a student on the waiting list.\n	\n\n	\n		Trav
 el and Dates\n\n		Students should plan to arrive in Montréal on June 17 and 
 depart on June 22.\n\n		If traveling from outside Canada\, a valid passport 
 is required.\n\n		Location\n\n		All classes and activities take place at the S
 chulich School of Music at McGill University.\n\n		Housing and Meals\n\n		Room
  and board are not included.\n\n		McGill offers affordable summer accommodat
 ions in its residence buildings\, including Royal Victoria College\, which
  is connected to the music building. Minors traveling alone are not eligib
 le to stay in McGill residences. Accommodation information can be found on
  the McGill Summer Accommodations page.\n\n		Students may also use registere
 d Airbnb\, Vrbo\, or Home Exchange listings. There are many affordable sho
 rt-term rentals in the area surrounding McGill.\n\n		Meals are not included.
  There are many restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance of 
 the Schulich School of Music. A list of nearby options will be provided to

 out the Artists\n\nA teacher\, instrumentalist and conductor\, Yehuda Gila
 d strives for “total musicianship\,” and as a result\, he has won the accl
 aim of both critics and audiences alike. As one of the founding members of
  the Colburn School Conservatory of Music\, Mr. Gilad serves as Music Dire
 ctor of the Colburn Orchestra and Professor of Clarinet for the Colburn Co
 nservatory\, the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts\, and the Col
 burn Music Academy. In addition\, he is Professor of Clarinet at the Unive
 rsity of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music\, and across these
  two prestigious institutions\, he has developed one of the most sought-af
 ter clarinet studios in the world. His students have achieved top honors i
 n every premier international clarinet competition\, and graduates of his 
 studio hold positions in over 150 major orchestras worldwide\, including t
 he Cincinnati and Minnesota Orchestras\; the New York\, Los Angeles\, Stoc
 kholm\, Sweden\, Montréal\, Hong Kong\, China\, and Seoul Philharmonics\; 
 San Francisco Opera\; the Concertgebauw\; and the Orquesta Nacional de Esp
 aña\, to name a few. In 2012\, he served as president of the jury for the 
 Carl Nielsen 5th International Clarinet Competition in Odense\, Denmark. M
 r. Gilad is a recipient of numerous honors and awards\, including the Dist
 inguished Teacher Award from the White House Commission on Presidential Sc
 holars\, the Ramo Award\, and USC’s highest honor for excellence in teachi
 ng. He was also named one of Musical America’s 2015 Professional Influence
 rs of the Year. Mr. Gilad is regularly invited to present master classes a
 nd performances at music conservatories and major festivals around the glo
 be.\n\n \n\nTodd Cope has been the Principal Clarinet of the Orchestre sym
 phonique de Montréal since 2013. Prior to his appointment\, he served as S
 econd and E-flat clarinet with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra from 2011 
 to 2013 and was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach from 200
 7 to 2010.\n\nTodd has also performed with the Sun Valley and Gran Teton F
 estival Orchestra\, Florida Grand Opera\, Scottish Chamber Orchestra\, Nat
 ional Repertory Orchestra\, and Aspen Music Festival Orchestra\, among oth
 ers. As a member of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal\, he has toured 
 extensively through Europe\, Asia\, South America\, and the United States.
 \n\nHe has been featured as a concerto soloist with the OSM and can be hea
 rd on the “Soloists of the OSM” CD series released by Analekta Records fea
 turing chamber works by Beethoven\, Strauss\, and Schubert. In addition to
  performing\, Todd is an Assistant Professor at the Schulich School of Mus
 ic at McGill University. He has given masterclasses in North America and E
 urope\, and was a faculty member at the Domaine Forget International Summe
 r Academy.\n\nTodd completed his undergraduate degree at the University of
  Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Richie Hawley an
 d earned a Professional Studies Certificate from the Colburn Conservatory 
 of Music as a student of Yehuda Gilad. Other teachers include Greg Raden\,
  Carmine Campione\, and Deborah Fabian.\n\nTodd is a performing artist and
  clinician for Buffet Crampon clarinets and Vandoren USA reeds and mouthpi
