McGill researchers receive $14 million in SSHRC funding for 62 projects focusing on societal challenges

The Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) has awarded $14 million to 62 McGill-led projects, including one Partnership Grant, four Partnership Development Grants, and 57 Insight Grants.  Among the recipients of new Partnership Development grants is the Faculty of Education's Associate Dean, Strategy and Transformation and Associate Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies, Prof.

Two NSERC Discovery Grants for McGill Education Researchers

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded 122 McGill research projects funding from its Discovery Grants competition for a total investment of $30 million.  The Discovery Grants program is NSERC's largest and longest-standing program. Discovery Grants support ongoing projects with long-term goals, providing researchers with the flexibility to explore the most promising avenues of research as they emerge.

Three exceptional scholars at McGill University were awarded the 2026 President’s Prize for Outstanding Emerging Researchers at convocation ceremonies held on May 28, May 29 and June 1. The annual prize recognizes early-career researchers who have distinguished themselves by their exceptional contributions to research. Faculty of Education's Prof. Rachel Langevin, was among the three winners.

Announcing Education's 2026 Teaching Awards Recipients

The Faculty of Education is proud to announce the 2026 recipients of its annual Teaching Awards, to recognize excellence and commitment within Education’s academic staff:

The Award for Distinguished Teaching recipient is Dr. Emmanuel Tabi, who was presented a certificate at this morning’s Spring Convocation Ceremony. The Heather Reisman and Gerald Schwartz Award for Excellence in Teaching is being given to Dr. Emma Harden-Wolfson.

Claudio Bussandri  will be conferred with a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LL.D.)  at the Faculty of Education Convocation Ceremony on June 1st. 

Valedictorian Ryan Dvorak Featured in McGill Reporter

Meet Ryan Dvorak, Faculty of Education's valedictorian for this year's convocation. The Faculty's second valedictorian from the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, Ryan, who has earned his B.Sc. (Honours), will have a personal story to share with us and some words of wisdom the entire audience will be able to learn from. In an interview with the McGill Reporter, Ryan said support from family, professors and peers shaped both his academic and personal growth.
