Compassion in Action
The plight of the last year and a half has awakened in many a call, a beckoning, an incessant urge to reach out and give back. Indeed, times of sorrow for some can spur solidarity for others. We become acutely aware of the pain and suffering others feel and offer ourselves to raise them up.
Following closely on the heels of this past year's Parliament of the World's Religions, the theme for the upcoming issue of radix magazine is inspired by theirs: "Compassion in Action." We are intrigued by the notion of compassion as an outward form, a visible display. Beyond this, we recognize that self-compassion is an intrinsic and important piece to one's wellness.
MORSL extends an invitation to all current McGill students to contribute to this Fall 2021 issue. We seek student contributions that explore this broad theme in various forms, ranging from poetry, art, fiction, and essays in this multimedia, multimodal issue.
Please submit your prose, poetry, essays, art, photography, video or audio files via this webform.
Also note that there is a 30MB limit on files, should you surpass this we recommend sharing your work through YouTube or WeTransfer (to morsl [at] mcgill.ca) instead.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
