Greetings from Montreal!
I hope that you have had an excellent summer holidays or a mild and productive winter so far. Montreal’s summer has been mainly sunny and very pleasant and I hope that it extends to September.
I am writing to update you on the progress of the 13th McGill International Entrepreneurship (MIE) Conference, September 17-20, Montreal and discuss four topics.
1. Accepted Papers. This writing follows my earlier note in late June and early July, in which I informed you that your proposed paper was accepted for presentation at the conference. Yes, indeed, you need to finish the writing of your paper and send us the completed draft soon. I know, this is the difficult part of the research and publication process. Please send your completed paper to 2010mie.conference [at] mcgill.ca by, or before, August15, 2010!
2. The File Name of Your Paper. In naming your paper’s file before sending it to us, please include the last name of the Corresponding Author, a three to five word Title and the last Revision Date in your file name (e.g., the file name of my paper will be something like: Etemad- New High Growth ISMEs-21July2010.doc). Please avoid sending us a file with file names such “the McGill Conference” as there will be many others with almost identical file names!
3. Conference Overview. On the conference front and very briefly, the conference is shaping up very well with three related parts. The one-day "policy discussion" is aiming to establish an effective dialogue among the entrepreneurial, financial, policy and scholarly communities on Friday, September17th. This is designed to stimulate your thoughts.
Our traditional two-day scholarly presentations and discussions on Saturday and Sunday (September 18 and 19) will have a very rich collection of scholarly papers. We have accepted more than 50 extended abstracts (or completed papers) from more than 70 submissions from more than 20 countries, including Australia, Finland, Ireland, Germany, Japan, Poland, Sweden UAE and USA to name a few.
For the first time in MIE Conferences, there will be a Doctoral Colloquium on Monday, September 20, which is designed to introduce more than 30 Doctoral students to IE scholarship and research.
Combined, these related parts hold the promise of providing for an exciting conference and making a significant contribution to all of us.
4. Hotel Accommodations in Montreal. McGill University has negotiated special lower rates for McGill guests with five hotels. You can find the list in the attached document and also at https://www.mcgill.ca/policyincrisis/hotel/ . These hotels are within 5 to 7 minutes walking distance from the Bronfman Building (1001 Sherbrooke Street West), where the conference will be held. All you need to do is to choose your hotel, contact its reservation desk (Telephone numbers are listed under each hotel listing) and tell them that you are a Guest of McGill and ask for the Special McGill Rate (Please see the attached document for the special rates). In fact, the attached document gives you those special rates, ranging from $124 to $249, in Canadian Dollars. Please note that these rates are not publically posted, are not available to public and are for individuals and not groups (group rates are usually higher!). Please make your hotel reservations at your earliest convenience to avoid booking difficulties later on. I request that you inform your co-authors of this information bulletin and its attachments as I do not have everyone’s e-mail address yet.
