Subject: Information Bulletin No. 3 Regarding the Two Conference Collections.
Greeting from Montreal and Thank you for Sending us Excellent Papers. A Warm Congratulation for Your Accepted Papers is also in order.
The collective experience of the past MIE conferences has gradually resulted in an effective conference structure, which would allow for an informed and active participation by everyone. We are planning to follow that structure in order to enable maximum participation and benefits: the conference will be an informal, but informed, research-intensive workshop to allow for maximum discussions of conceptual, methodological and theoretical issues, findings, lessons and implications. Given the number of papers so far, the conference holds the potential of being both busy and productive. There will not be sufficient time for us to read all full-length papers. To achieve the above objectives, we have searched for a simple way to convey a brief and rounded picture of each paper before the start of conference to transmit the essence of every paper. This should enable everyone to become relatively informed for actively participating in, and benefiting from, all discussions.
As you can imagine, finding a perfect solution neither is easy nor simple. It will involve a collective effort. Therefore, I would like to ask for your assistance in order to produce two collections to make it easier for all of us to read at least one collection before hand in order to benefit from, and participate, as intensively as possible, in the discussions and to provide equally-informed feedback to others. These collections are:
1. A Collection of Extended Abstracts/Summaries. This collection will provide a thumbnail synopsis of all papers for a quick reference prior, and during, the conference. Please provide a summary of the significant points of your paper for inclusion in the Collection of Extended Abstracts/Summaries. Each summary should be about 800 to 1000 words (i.e., in Times New Roman font size 10, single-spaced with 0.8 inch, or two-centimetres, margins) and cover significant points of the paper, including the family of the literature within which the paper is situated, methods, findings, limitations and implications that you would like to highlight. We hope to receive your Extended Summary in order to send the collection of all papers by e-mail to everyone in the first week of September. It will also be printed in hard copy and available during the conference. With your permission, we would like to post them on the conference website.
2. A Volume of Conference Proceedings. This collection will contain full-length completed papers accepted for presentation in the conference. For copyright reasons, this collection will not be posted on the conference website; but it will be distributed to conference participants in Montreal.
I would like to request that you send us both the Extended Summary and Completed Paper to the attention of the Conference Coordinator, Ms Lorraine Vezina at 2006conference.mgmt [at] mcgill.ca at your earliest convenience. If you have sent us the completed paper already, please do not send it again, unless it is a substantively revised version with clear indication to avoid any confusion, Our ultimate production deadline is September 1, 2006 for including your two submissions in the Collection of Summaries and in the Conference Proceedings. Please try to get them to us before then.
