What's the Deal with Aerosols?

a talk by
Kyle Gorkowski
Department of Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences, McGill University

Aerosol particles have short and long term effects of global importance. I will cover my recent research, conducted at AOS, to model how aerosol particles evolve in the atmosphere. This seminar will include the experimental technique developed to measure aerosol surface tension, recently published in PNAS. The second discussion will center on our new aerosol thermodynamic model, which has applications in large scale chemical transport models. I will cover how our model uses a reduced complexity approach and machine learning to increase model fidelity without increasing the computation burden.
