How the WPC Mentoring Program works

WPC Mentees

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All McGill undergraduate, graduate and Continuing Studies students
  • Students who identify as a member of these specific under-represented groups: Indigenous North American and Black communities as well as rural and low-income backgrounds


Application Process:

  1. Complete the WPC-Med Mentee Application Form.
  2. All mentees who meet the eligibility requirements will be notified by the WPC.
  3. You will receive an email notifying you that you have been paired with a mentor. Their background and contact information will be included in this email. Review it so you are ready when they email you to set up the first meeting.


Meeting your Mentor:

  1. Decide on a mutually convenient meeting time.
  2. Before meeting, read the First Meeting Checklist. You may want to consider topic(s) that you would like to talk about with your mentor in advance or even bring a list of questions that you may have to your first meeting.
  3. The rest is up to you!
  4. Remember to bring the Mentoring Guidelines and Commitment form to your first meeting so you and your mentor can review and sign it together.


WPC Mentors

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Professors and course instructors
  • Administrative and support staff
  • Graduate students and Post-Doctoral Fellows


Application Process:

  1. Complete the WPC-Med Mentor Application Form.
  2. Interested mentors with be contacted by the WPC and subsequently paired with a mentee.


Meet your Mentee:

  1. Once you receive an email notifying that you have been paired with a mentee, email your mentee and initiate the conversation.
  2. Decide on a mutually convenient meeting time.
  3. Before meeting, read the First Meeting Checklist.
  4. The rest is up to you!
  5. Remember to bring the Mentoring Guidelines and Commitment form to your first meeting so you and your mentee can review and sign it together.
  6. Scan and wpcmentor.medicine [at] mcgill.ca (email us) your signed Mentoring Guidelines and Commitment form.
