  • Have developed an appreciation of the complexity of chronic pain patients and an understanding of the most frequent psychiatric comorbidities associated with chronic pain patients
  • Appreciate the nonpharmacological and pharmacological approaches to manage the most frequent comorbidities associated with chronic pain patients

 

Second Presentation: Consultation Liaison in Psychiatry: Assessment of Decision Making Capacities - Dr Leon Tourian

  • The basic tenets of capacity to consent and the assessment of capacity to consent
  • The basic tenets of capacity to care for yourself or your affairs and the assessment of the capacity to care for yourself or your affairs
  • Various ways to manage incapacity either preemptively or prospectively

 

Third Presentation: The Pharmacology of Insomnia - Dr. Gabriella Gobbi

  • To understand the diagnosis of insomnia in the DSM V
  • To understand the neurobiology of sleep and wakefulness
  • To understand the pharmacological framework of the management of patients with primary or comorbid insomnia
