Guidelines for Common Pediatric Infections – An update
This presentation will summarize INESSS and Canadian Paediatric Society guidelines on acute otitis media, uncomplicated community-acquired pneumonia and urinary tract infections. A brief review of microbiology and diagnostics will be provided but the focus will be on management of these infections, specifically on antimicrobial therapy.

Marie-Astrid Lefebvre, MD, MSc, FRCPC, FAAP
Dr. Lefebvre attended Medical School at McGill, did her Pediatrics Residency at the Floating Hospital for Children (Tufts University) in Boston and then returned to her alma mater for her Pediatric ID Fellowship, which she completed in 2014. Afterwards, she practiced community General Pediatrics for one year and subsequently went to Toronto for a Fellowship in Infection Control at Mount Sinai Hospital and a MSc in Quality Improvement & Patient Safety. Dr. Lefebvre has been a Pediatric ID consultant at the MCH since July 2016, and Director of Infection Control since December 2016. Her interests include hospital-acquired infections and their prevention using quality improvement methods.
