MPP Orientation 2022

On August 22, the MPP cohort will kick start the year with a week-long orientation session. This is the perfect opportunity to meet your cohort and some of the teaching staff.

The MPP orientation period will contain lots of important information — about Montreal, about McGill University, and about the Max Bell MPP program. It will be full of workshops that will begin to build the skills you need to complete the MPP program successfully. These workshops will be very interactive, so be prepared to participate.

In preparation for the year and for this orientation, don't forget to carefully read your Summer Reading List.

Beyond the MPP orientation, incoming students have many opportunities to familiarize themselves with the University and find answers to any question they might have. The Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E) organizes orientation activities designed specifically for first-year students. You can also consult guides and resources for success at McGill University. All students enrolled in Max Bell School's MPP have access to student resources available for graduate students.

Working together to ensure a safe experience on campus

Although most federal, provincial, and municipal COVID-19 restrictions are now lifted, the Max Bell School wants to ensure that students have a safe experience as they arrive on campus this fall. Here’s what our students can expect upon their arrival on campus, how they should prepare, and what resources are available to them:

  1. Read about McGill's plan to return to full in-person activities for the fall 2022 semester.
  2. Learn more about the current campus protocols in place to fight the pandemic.
  3. Do you still need to get the vaccine? Access these resources to get your shots now.
  4. Read the general FAQs about health and safety precautions.

We will be continually adding information, resources, and answers to your questions as the situation progresses. Check back frequently!

The University will provide optional procedural masks to all students, faculty and staff coming to our campuses. Individuals who would prefer to bring their own procedural masks may do so.

How to wear a mask:

  • Ensure your mask fully covers your mouth and nose
  • Wash your hands before and after removing the mask or face covering.
  • Remove it by the ear straps and avoid touching the front.
  • Replace the mask or face covering if it becomes damp or soiled

Stay home and seek medical advice if you can’t tell whether you have COVID-19 symptoms or just a cold or flu. It is better to lose a few days of class or work than to cause others to fall sick.

Location

Most orientation activities will be taking place in room 650 of 680 Sherbooke, located at the southeast corner of campus, at the intersection of Sherbrooke St. W. and Robert-Bourassa Blvd.
