DESCRIPTION:As part of the Francofête 2026 at McGill\, under the theme 'Fre
 nch\, language of knowledge'\, this session will be held in French and is 
 offered to you by the McGill Alumni Association.\n\n \n\nJoin us for an ex
 citing evening of discussion.\n\nIn an age of information overload\, how c
 an we distinguish reality from fiction? How can we use media communication
  platforms as effective tools for public awareness and policy communicatio
 n in the public interest?\n\nThis discussion will focus on the forces shap
 ing the current media landscape and how traditional and social media influ
 ence public perception\, amplify misinformation\, and fuel public debate\,
  both globally and within the evolving Canadian and Quebec contexts. Parti
 cipants will explore issues related to media literacy\, as well as the res
 ponsibilities and challenges faced by journalists\, communicators\, and ci
 tizens in navigating a digital ecosystem marked by political\, social\, an
 d technological uncertainty.\n\nAbout the speakers:\n\nFarnell Morisset\, 
 BCL/LL. B. 2017  -  Engineer\, lawyer and columnist\n\nFarnell Morisset is
  a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (civil engineering) and a 
 member of the New York State Bar. He is a graduate of McGill University\, 
 Université Laval\, and the London School of Economics. His legal practice 
 focuses primarily on securities regulation\, real estate portfolio transac
 tions\, and private equity funds. Also a popularizer and content creator\,
  Farnell publishes analyses on law\, politics\, and economics. His videos 
 have over 220\,000 subscribers\, notably on TikTok\, Instagram\, Facebook\
 , and YouTube. He is a columnist for  La Presse\, URBANIA\, The Quebec Chr
 onicle-Telegraph\, CBC/Radio-Canada  \, and other media outlets\, and he r
 egularly participates in public debates and legal events.\n\nAengus Bridgm
 an\, Ph.D. 2025  - Director of the McGill University Media Ecosystem Obser
 vatory\n\nAengus Bridgman is the director of the Media Ecosystem Observato
 ry and an assistant professor (research) at McGill University's Max Bell S
 chool of Public Policy. He is one of Canada's leading experts on disinform
 ation\, digital activism\, and the workings of digital media. His work has
  been published in  The Journal of Politics\, Journal of Experimental Poli
 tical Science\, Party Politics\, Misinformation Review\, Frontiers in Poli
 tical Science\,  and the  Canadian Journal of Political Science \, and fea
 tured in  The New York Times\, CBC\, The Washington Post\, The Post Millen
 nial\, Vox\, La Presse\, Radio-Canada\, Le Devoir\,  and many other media 
 outlets.\n
