Ecofiscal was a unique, purpose-built, think tank dedicated to the research and advocacy of pollution pricing. Pollution pricing is a good idea, but is a good idea enough to get things done?
Our upcoming conference, Better Policy for a Better World, will explore the many reasons that policy making is difficult in the real world.
In the conference's third panel, four independent experts will assess the role played by Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission in influencing Canadian policy.
Formed in 2014, the Commission consisted of a group of experienced, policy-minded economists from across the country, with the mandate to broaden the discussion of ecofiscal policy reform beyond the academic sphere and into the realm of practical policy application. The Commission issued reports on waste, water and environmental risk, but mostly focused its research on climate and energy, releasing over 8 reports on carbon pricing.
Panelists for this event include:
- Andrew Leach, Associate Professor, Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta
- Bill Watson, Research fellow, Institute for Research on Public Policy; Associate professor, Department of Economics, McGill University
- David McLaughlin, climate and sustainability public policy expert
The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Moffat, Vice President, Ivey Foundation.
