DESCRIPTION: \n\n✒️ TITLE / TITRE\n\nSymmetry and enumerative geometry\n\n📄
ABSTRACT / RÉSUMÉ \n\nEnumerative geometry is the art and science of coun
ting geometric things\, for instance there are 27 lines on a cubic surface
\, 28 bitangents to a planar quartic\, etc. Enumerative questions first ap
peared in ancient Greek geometry\, and flourished during the French school
of projective geometry in the 19th century. Today this discipline enjoys
wide-reaching connections throughout mathematics and physics.\n\nIn this t
alk we’ll explore classical enumerative questions in the presence of some
ambient symmetry. We’ll discuss how finite symmetries of an enumerative pr
oblem manifest both in the geometric solutions of the problem and in the p
rocess of algebraically solving for these solutions.\n\nLien ZOOM Link\n\n
