McGill Alumni Africa Network

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill provides academically talented young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with access to a world-class university education. Since 2013, the Mastercard Foundation has supported over 100 Mastercard Foundation Scholars at McGill.

As part of the Mastercard Foundation Transitions Project, we are creating the McGill Alumni Africa Network in order to support Mastercard Foundation Scholars in their efforts to contribute to advancing development in Africa.

The McGill Alumni Africa Network is intended to develop an alumni community in Africa that will help Mastercard Foundation Scholars to build a path toward meaningful employment for impact in Africa after they graduate. This network would be open to other McGill students who engage with Africa.

Our goal is to create a robust and supportive community that will help Mastercard Foundation Scholars and other eligible students to connect, communicate, and enrich their personal and professional lives. We are requesting your support, specifically in:

  1. Participating in networking events with Mastercard Foundation Scholars and recent alumni who are engaging with Africa
  2. Providing opportunities for Mastercard Foundation Scholars and recent alumni to participate in internships with you and your organizations
  3. Providing opportunities for Mastercard Foundation Scholars and recent alumni to collaborate with you and your organizations in developing entrepreneurial and employment-creation projects that can be funded through the McGill Mastercard Foundation Transitions Fund
  4. Serving as mentors to Mastercard Foundation Scholars and recent alumni

If you are interested in getting involved in this new alumni network, we would love to hear from you. Please, contact Dr. Nii Addy, Associate Director (Africa Outreach), Office of the Deputy Provost, Student Life and Learning at nii.addy [at] mcgill.ca with questions or comments.
