Odero Otieno

Biography: 

Odero Otieno is a Kenyan technology executive who is currently Director of Full Stack Engineering at Humana. As the leader of Digital and Data Platform Innovation and Engineering for the Digital Health Platform, Odero and his teams are responsible for Humana's most critical and ambitious innovations and initiatives: Designing, developing, operating, and supporting the increasingly complex cloud environments and data platforms. These platforms power modern data analytics and machine learning use cases for elevating member experiences through personalization of Health Insurance Shopping, Enrollment, Onboarding, Pharmacy, Primary Care and Provider Service, Payments and others.

Odero’s teams partner closely with cross-functional teams at Humana and are responsible for the planning, execution, and success of technical projects. He helps drive a strong culture of data platform innovation and engineering excellence alongside scalable practices to accelerate the evolution of Data Platforms and Experiences. He leads cloud engineering, content management, existing data resources, builds new datasets and data pipelines, and implements new technologies and tools to enable rigorous scalable science and analytics, and data-informed product development. His teams and vision enable data to inform platform engineering teams at scale, with the ultimate purpose of improving the member experience for Humana customers across healthcare, wellness and insurance services, all while preserving Humana’s privacy values.

An established engineer, founder and innovator of extraordinary ability, Odero is passionate about, and has exceptional expertise in, cloud engineering, data, data quality, efficiency, and scale - playing a critical part in accelerating data-informed product development to drive innovations and personalization of member experiences at Humana.

He has previously led engineering, product, business and innovation at organizations that include Microsoft, Texas Medical Center and DawaSwift - a digital healthcare platform he founded that powers interactions between patients, pharmacies, medical institutions and insurance companies to streamline prescriptions, payments, insurance and medicine deliveries.

Odero's academic background includes a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University, Bachelor's degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Commerce in Business Management, and Technological Entrepreneurship (McGill). He is also a graduate of the Next Canada Mini MBA program in Technology and Innovation at the University of Toronto, as well as the Global Innovation Catalyst Program at Stanford University.
