DESCRIPTION:Get a free meal by helping dietetics students prepare 200 meals
  for vulnerable families of the Ville St-Pierre area.\n\nDr. Ryan Mailloux
 \, Director of McGill's School of Human Nutrition\, is looking for 10 to 1
 2 colleagues and students to join him on February 9 and give 2 hours of th
 eir time (between 11:00 and 13:00). You will do and decorate cupcakes\, th
 e dessert part of the Valentine’s Day thematic meal prepared for Lachine’s
  Community pediatrics Center located in the Ville Saint-Pierre area\, one 
 of the poorest on Montreal island. Its mission is to to support vulnerable
  children and families of this area to ensure their well‐being and optimal
  development.\n\nThose who will have volunteered\, they will get to experi
 ence this Valentine’s Day thematic meal\, a heartwarming lasagna and\, of 
 course\, cupcakes. \n\nThis entire operation has been planned\, implemente
 d and by Dietetics students as part of NUTR 345/346 courses. \n\nRSVP to v

 \n11:15–12:45: Cooking dessert in the Food Lab (CC-215)\n\n12:45: Voluntee
 r lunch is served (CC-212)\n\nAbout MacShares\n\nMacShares is a team-build
 ing group activity in which Mac faculty\, staff and students volunteer a c
 ouple of hours of their time to contribute to creating 100+ meals which ar
 e then served by local community organizations to people in need. The even
 t is part of a management activity for students in the Dietetics program.
 \n\nThis February\, MacShares is looking for volunteers for three events:
 \n\n\n	Friday\, February 2: Pudding Chomeur\n	Monday\, February 5: Cornbread
 \n	Friday\, February 9: Cupcakes\n\n\nVolunteers must RSVP by one week befo
 re the event.\n\nQuick Facts\n\n\n	In Québec\, 1 in 10 people are turning t
 o food banks for help in feeding their families.\n	33% of food bank users a
 re children while representing only 20% of the population.\n	8% of Food Ban
 k clients are postsecondary students\, a significant increase from 5% in 2
 019.\n	8% of Food Bank clients are seniors\, a significant increase from 6.
 8% in 2019.\n\n\nThis project was made possible thanks to the support from
  the School of Human Nutrition and Metro Plus Lachine.\n
