DESCRIPTION:Supported by the Lister Family Engaged Science Initiative\, the
Lister Science Chats connects members of the community through live scien
ce talks with researchers from the McGill Faculty of Agricultural and Envi
ronmental Sciences. This chat features two Macdonald Campus graduate stude
nts giving an engaging 10-minute talk on their research and will conclude
with a Q&A period.    \n\nNo registration required. Join us live on ZOOM
\n\nSpeakers:\n\nLaura Li Ching Ng\, MSc student\, School of Human Nutriti
onDetermining optimal growth patterns to reduce bronchopulmonary dysplasia
among very preterm infants\n\nExtremely premature infants are at high ris
k for linear growth failure and high body mass index which may affect thei
r lung development. Through this project\, we hope to identify growth patt
erns and body composition characteristics from birth to 36 corrected gesta
tional age that are associated with lower risk of bronchopulmonary dysplas
ia. This project is being carried out in 3 Quebec NICUs. \n\nMeryem Talbo\
, PhD candidate\, School of Human NutritionLow blood sugar in type 1 diabe
tes….and technology? \n\nLow blood sugar is rarely thought of when we talk
about diabetes\, yet many people with diabetes must live in a constant fe
ar of what a low blood sugar can cause. Thankfully\, there are many techno
logical advances that can offer guidance to better control both low and hi
gh blood sugar levels. However\, these technologies remain inaccessible to
  many. \n
