  “big soil data” and add value to the retrieved information are critical t
 opics in precision farming! The overall goal of this dissertation was to e
 valuate current soil mapping methods using grid-based sampling and proxima
 l soil sensing (PSS) and to develop optimization and economic strategies t
 o support precision farming applications.      \n\nEveryone in the McGill
