PhD Oral Defence of Anwer Hasil Kottarampatel, Parasitology

Glycosomes are unique organelles that compartmentalize several vital metabolic pathways in kinetoplastid parasites, including Leishmania spp. The Leishmania donovani PEX14 (LdPEX14) is a glycosomal membrane associated protein that binds the PTS1 and PTS2 protein loaded receptors PEX5 and PEX7. We demonstrated that a hydrophobic region spanning residues 120-200 is essential for the insertion of LdPEX14 into a glycosome mimetic lipid bilayer.

Everyone in the McGill community is welcome to attend a PhD oral defence. Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our PhD candidates.
