About the speaker

Dr. Jean-Sébastien Parent

Research Scientist, Ottawa Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

Dr. Jean-Sébastien Parent completed his undergrad and earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Université de Montréal. He then completed postdoctoral fellowships at INRA Versailles, and at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. In 2019, he joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) as a Research Scientist at the Ottawa Research and Development Centre and became an adjunct professor at Carleton University. He now leads a research team integrating molecular biology, genetics and epigenetics in projects aiming at supporting the Canadian agricultural sector. In particular, his research aims at improving plant adaptation and resilience as well as developing sustainable agricultural practices.
