Get involved with myInvolvement!

Are you stuck in a lockdown rut and wish you could shake things up? Sounds like you need myInvolvement!

Are you stuck in a lockdown rut and wish you could shake things up? Do you feel like you’re just floating along in a sea of journal articles, thesis proposals, and data sets with nothing to anchor you to the larger McGill community? Wish you could be more INVOLVED…?

Sounds like you need myInvolvement!

What is myInvolvement?

This is an online tool for McGill organizations to share and promote events to the entire McGill community, for students to find groups and events that are of interest. It is also used to track your involvement in a meaningful way, which may be used to enhance your CV.

How can grad students use it?

You will be able to:

1) check the Events page regularly, and keep an eye out for events that are of interest to you, and register for said events

2) post events for your McGill-registered organization, to get exposure and generate interest (inquire at myinvolvement [at] mcgill.ca to get started)

3) log in and generate your CCR (Co-Curricular Record), to append to your CV and/or to add to a school application

Why get involved?

There are so many reasons! 284+, actually! There are currently 284 organizations registered with myInvolvement, and many post regular events. COVID be damned, these groups are determined to offer a multitude of safe ways for students to meet with peers, share ideas and have fun (virtually, for now). https://involvement.mcgill.ca/organizations (Handy hint: start looking around “Mac…” for Mac campus-specific groups!).

If you’re anything like me, you are missing the fulfillment of being a part of something bigger, whether that “something bigger” is just tuning into a wellness session once in a while, attending an entire workshop series on career-planning strategies, or even a fun virtual games’ night. You miss the day-to-day interaction with your peers, as the pandemic drags on.

The myInvolvement site is a perfect place to cultivate and maintain that feeling of being part of a greater McGill community, outside the requirements of your graduate program. I hope you’ll check it out and benefit from it today.

Stay healthy, stay safe.
