Virtual Reality (VR) is an immersive technology which which allows users to explore and interact with virtual environments via the use of a head-mounted display (HMD) and motion controllers.
McGill has an HTC Vive virtual reality system available to book for use in the library. This service is available for free to current students and faculty.
To book:
- Check equipment availability via McGill's booking service. Booking is required at least 24 hours in advance (not including weekends).
- Select the time and date you'd like to reserve with the equipment. You will receive a confirmation to your McGill email.
- Check in with the staff member in the Innovation Commons (RM-22A, in Innovation Commons Room B) at the predetermined time. Staff will provide access to the equipment. Please arrive within 15 minutes of the reservation start time or it will be canceled.
- Before using VR/AR for the first time, you will have to sign a waiver. Staff will provide the waiver and brief instructions when you arrive.
